Close To You
"Oh, why don't you smile, my only star
Shine on, baby
Smile, my only star..."
Can't get that song out of my head right now. Yup after agonizing everybosy with my ramblings on how I'm completely saturated with absolutely ANYTHING that concerns Sam Milby, I still embarrassingly find myself singing his song.
Got to watch the movie "Close to You" starring John Lloyd Cruz and Bea Alonzo (another love team that I sometimes despise! *very embarrassed*) and featuring Sam Milby last night.
Yup, I watched the movie on its opening night.
Well, we were actually supposed to watch the much controversial Ang Lee Flick Brokeback Mountain but it wasn't being shown yet so we settled for the Pinoy sub.
(Ok, ok, I'll admit we were really supposed to watch "Close to You" the following evening anyway. So there, all my dignity is gone now, thanks.)
Maybe it's because it's February or it's just been quite a while since I saw a movie on the big screen but I didn't find myself close to barfing anytime during the hour and a half show. So for that, I guess it deserves a "nice one."
Of course, I did see that the movie was basically recyled material. From the plot to the dialogues to, I think, even the locations. I sort of saw a clone of Claudine Baretto's and Rico Yan's starrer "Got to Believe." (which, is my all time favorite, by the way!)
Gotta give credit to Sam Milby, though. He did quite well for a newcomer. I just hope ABS-CBN would stop saturating us with everything about him. Or else he'll just end up as a "biglang sikat-biglang bagsak" phenom.
Memorable ( paraphrase of the ) line: "You've got to choose between a habit and a dream."
Final thought: For once, I'd like to see a Pinoy movie that doesn't end with the loveteam living happily ever after ala My Bestfriend's Wedding.
Shine on, baby
